3 Ways to Get Links That Count
The Google Penguin update hit a lot of webmasters right in the wallet. Aimed at those who bought links or had a lot of poor quality incoming links, Penguin is an effort in eliminating spammy sites. While this most likely didn’t affect your dealership, you can still learn from the experience and choose your inbound links carefully in the future.
1. Go Social
Social marketing can get your site links going viral in a good way, in an amazingly short time. Get involved on sites like Google+, Facebook and Twitter, and engage your fans in a way that makes them want to share.
2. Be Newsworthy
Do something that draws attention. While that is getting harder to do these days, try focusing on something positive that will generate interest and news stories. By making people honestly want to talk about your dealership, you will get more natural links to your site. Take this story for example.
3. Write Content People Like
Create content for your site that is different from what everyone else is saying. Make it new, compelling and “shareable” by including easy sharing links to major social media sites. If it is interesting, sensational or controversial, it will be shared.
It is easy to get caught up in quick traffic schemes, but at the end of the day – and the Google updates – what really works is creating quality content, interesting news and a site that has some meat to it. All the other stuff will be tossed out with another algorithm update.
