Here at Client ConneXion, we put great value in connecting with our customers, whether it is through a computer screen or in person. However, many people may feel like too much connecting can be a negative in the professional world. Today, we want to touch on the subject of over-connection.

First comes first: the constant connection we have on social media. Platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram can help us better connect to current and potential customers, but it can also become dangerous if overused. For the administrator of those platforms, it can become overwhelming to try to keep up with competition, trends and the constant flow of inventory. The over-connection for the person operating your dealership’s sites can happen quickly. Additionally, you can overwhelm your audience with too many posts. The quantity of your posts (in other words, over-posting) is not equal to quality of your posts – if you over-post, your audience will become disinterested (or even annoyed) and may choose to look elsewhere for their vehicle. We encourage you to stay connected on social media, but do what feels best for your dealership – post when necessary and do not overwhelm your admin or your audience.

Another way that people may question over-connection is the amount of contact your dealership has with a customer. Client ConneXion has spent years researching ways to generate leads and better connect with customers, and we have found that the key to staying connected (but not over-connected) is authenticity. If you genuinely want your customer to find their dream car and to be happy, you will know the right times to reach out to them with a phone call, text message or handwritten note. It is important to not overwhelm them when they are making a big decision, but showing them that you genuinely care about their decision and happiness is a great connection technique.
