As managers, we know that customers are important to the success of your dealership. Customers will continue to return to your business based on the way you treat them. When customers come back, that strengthens your relationship. In order to build better and stronger customer relationships, follow these easy tips:
- Be honest. Customers can detect dishonesty more than ever, especially when they have the Internet at their disposal. The Internet allows customers to research and verify any and all information, making it imperative for your dealership – and all who are involved – to be honest.
- Treat them how you’d want to be treated. Consider if you were in the customers’ shoes. Treat your customers in the same manner as you would like to be treated. The Golden Rule applies in all areas!
- Do not be aggressive. Do not force customers to purchase, as – like the tip above – you would not want to be forced into a purchase, either.
- Think of them as a friend. You talk to friends in a different tone, often in a tone of comfort. If you treat your customers like friends, then they will feel more comfortable around you.
These tips are great ways to strengthen your customer-dealership relationship. However, there are so many ways to engage with your customers. Following common sense and treating your customers as you would want to be treated are easy ways to retain and gain customers!
