As a dealership manager or business owner, you know your main priority is to make your customers happy. After all, they are the ones keeping your company successful by making purchases and utilizing your services. However, some dealerships come up short when it comes to making their customers happy. Today, we want to discuss three ways that dealerships inadvertently fail their customers:

  1. You make them spend more money than they were expecting to spend. For example, if someone is making a large vehicle purchase and is under the impression that they are spending X amount, then you surprise them with additional fees and charges that was not originally discussed, that can turn them off. It’s important to be open and honest about ALL fees and charges that come with buying a new car. Make sure your customers know about the entire package before you sit them down to collect their payment.
  2. You take up too much of their time. We all know that time is precious, and nothing makes us angrier than waiting. No matter the industry, waiting can greatly affect the outcome of a situation. In the dealership setting, be sure to compensate for potential long lines or waiting times by adding more staff members or providing ways for customers to occupy their time while they’re waiting.
  3. You lead them on and don’t provide them with what you promised. This doesn’t just apply to the dealership setting, but to life, as well. When informing your customers about features, etc., be sure to be truthful in what you can provide them. If a company fails to deliver on a promise they made to a customer, then they are ruining customer trust – a valuable trait in any industry.

The list above is just a short snapshot of things that go wrong in the workplace.
